The March 4 Pisces New Moon marks the beginning of the end of the astrological new year, that officially starts with the Sun entering Aries on the Vernal Equinox. This New Moon features Mercury, Mars, Uranus, and the comet Chiron, all in Pisces- the last of the water signs, known for their emotional sensitivity and empathy. But then the energy takes on a distinctly different flavor when Uranus moves into Aries on March 11.
As Uranus relates to the impulse for revolution and to overturn the status quo, it seems that this dynamic urge is already in effect in the Middle East, and any place where people are feeling oppressed, restricted, or without basic human rights. The political tension in Wisconsin over Gov. Scott Walker's proposed legislation to weaken the economic rights of working class union members, is a classic case in point.
The epochal square between Uranus and Pluto is clearly resonating through the collective for the next 7 or more years, and the world will undoubtedly look very different when we emerge from this celestial alignment. Note that the last square between Uranus and Pluto occurred in the early 1930's, along with the depression and the rise of fascism. However, the current waxing square marks the 'crisis of action' phase of the 128 year Uranus-Pluto synodic cycle that began in the tumultuous 1960's with the three conjunctions(16-17 degrees Virgo).
The fateful Nodes of the Moon, that are actually eclipse points, move back into the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity and square Uranus(29th degree) around the Pisces New Moon. This aspect will definitely magnify the Uranian energy for freedom, change, and revolution. We should expect the unexpected.
The pace and momentum of events accelerate when the Sun enters Aries March 20, followed by Mars on April 1.

Deadly Earthquake Strikes NZ
From BBC News:
"New Zealand's prime minister says at least 65 people have died after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch. John Key said the toll was expected to rise further, adding: "We may be witnessing New Zealand's darkest day."
The tremor caused widespread damage as it occurred at a shallow depth of 5km (3.1 miles) during lunchtime when Christchurch was at its busiest.
The mayor of New Zealand's second-biggest city says 120 people have been rescued from the ruins.
The country's deadliest natural disaster in 80 years struck at 1251 (2351 GMT on Monday), 10km (6.2 miles) south-east of the city."

The Winter Solstice total lunar eclipse was sharply focused in Christchurch, NZ, by falling directly on the horizon there. And both Uranus and Mars are now in aspect to the eclipse degree at 29 Gemini 20. Uranus is at 29 Pisces, while Mars(29 Aquarius 10) is in a tight trine to the eclipse degree.
The traditional rule is that the latent power of an eclipse is activated by the New or Full 3 months later that triggers the sensitive eclipse degree, or set-off by a hard aspect from Mars. Uranus, of course, moves very slowly, and is naturally associated with wild and chaotic events that may occur suddenly or unexpectedly. But the almost exact transit of Mars to the eclipse degree was clearly a further trigger and timing factor.
The Solstice Eclipse conjoined the red star Betelgeuse- both the 9/11 Moon and the Sumatran Earthquake-tsunami Moon were conjunct Betelgeuse. Transting Uranus is now at the 29 degree of Pisces conjunct the malefic star Scheat associated with natural disasters.
The transiting Lunar Nodes cross the Solstice Eclipse degree exactly on March 6, 2 days after the Pisces New Moon. And the March 19 Full Moon at 29 Virgo that conjoins the star Alkaid/Benetnash, will square the Solstice Eclipse degree.
The following is from Anne Wright's fixed star website: "The last star in the Great Bear. Benetnash(Alkaid) means 'hired mourners'. If the influence of this star is exercised, an influence of a Mars-Uranus-Saturn nature is present. Experience has shown that many human lives are to be mourned. Reinhold Ebertin made a survey of this fixed star covering centuries when associated with transits of the major planets over this degree. The results have been recorded in the 40th yearbook for Cosmobiological Research 1969. In accordance with adopted belief of ancient times, this fixed star is supposed to be bound up with the realm of the dead and is therefore associated with death and mourning. In an important position in a mundane map, Benetnash will claim human lives in calamities such as mine accidents, collapse of houses and bridges, mountain slides, earth tremors and catastrophes caused by weather. Solar Flares Reach Earth
Waves of highly charged solar particles are hitting the earth coincidentally with the Feb. 18 Full Moon, that's the first SuperMoon event(New or Full Moon with Moon at perigee- closest to the earth) of 2011. This Full Moon at the final degree of Leo conjoins the royal star Regulus- the heart of the lion. "A triple star, flushed white and ultramarine, situated on the body of the Lion. From Regulus, a Little King, and often called Cor Leonis, the Lion's Heart, and symbolically the Crushing Foot. It was one of the four Royal Stars of the Persians in 3,000 B.C., when, as Watcher of the North, it marked the summer solstice.[Robson]
According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Mars and Jupiter, but most later authors liken it to Mars only, while Alvidas states that it is similar to the Sun in good aspect to Uranus. It gives violence, destructiveness, military honor of short duration, with ultimate failure, imprisonment, violent death, success, high and lofty ideals and strength of spirit, and makes its natives magnanimous, grandly liberal, generous, ambitious, fond of power, desirous of command, high-spirited and independent."[Robson]
Solar Flares Reach Earth- BBC News:
"Scientists around the world will be watching closely as three eruptions from the Sun reach the Earth over Thursday and Friday. These "coronal mass ejections" will slam into the Earth's magnetic shield.
The waves of charged solar particles are the result of three solar flares directed at Earth in recent days, including the most powerful since 2006. The biggest flares can disrupt technology, including power grids, communications systems and satellites.
The Aurora Borealis may also be visible further south than is normally the case.
The source of all three events, sunspot 1158, has expanded rapidly in recent days.
Solar flares are caused by the sudden release of magnetic energy stored in the Sun's atmosphere. Their effects can interfere with modern technology on Earth, such as electrical power grids, communications systems and satellites- including satellite navigation signals."

New Addition to Our Solar System
New addition to solar system may be bigger than Jupiter
From IANS- Indo Asian News Service, Feb 14:
"A new planet in our solar system's outer reaches could be four times as large as Jupiter, the biggest planet in the system, scientists believe. It's orbit would be thousands of times further from the Sun than the Earth's- which explains it's obscurity.
The data which could prove the existence of Tyche, a gas giant in the outer Oort Cloud, is set to be released later this year - although some believe proof has already been garnered by NASA with its pace telescope Wise and is waiting to be pored over.
Daniel Whitmire from the University of Louisiana in the US believes the data may prove Tyche's existence within two years, the Daily Mail reports.
He believes the planet will mainly be made of hydrogen and helium, with an atmosphere like Jupiter's, with spots and rings and clouds, adding: 'You'd also expect it to have moons. All the outer planets have them.'
He and John Matese first suggested Tyche existed because of the angle comets were arriving, with a fifth of the expected number since 1898 entering higher than expected.
If confirmed, the status and name of the new planet- which would become the ninth and potentially the largest- would then have to be agreed by the International Astronomical Union."
The International Astronomical Union(IAU) has yet to determine the name and status of this 'planet'. But for now, the astronomers are referring to it as Tyche(Latin)- the Greek goddess of fortune and luck.
TYKHE was the goddess or spirit of fortune, chance, providence and fate. She was usually honored in a more favorable light as Eutykhia, goddess of good fortune, luck, success and prosperity.
Tykhe was represented with different attributes. Holding a rudder, she was conceived as the divinity guiding and conducting the affairs of the world, and in this respect she was called one of the Moirai(Fates); with a ball she represented the varying unsteadiness of fortune--unsteady and capable of rolling in any direction; with Ploutos or the horn of Amalthea, she was the symbol of the plentiful gifts of fortune.
mythology of Tyche
It appears from the mythology of Tyche that she has an affinity with the Virgo constellation- and this link may help determine Tyche's astrological significance, if there is indeed a meaningful connection between the two. However, other sources relate the constellation Virgo with the goddess Dike(Justice).
Tyche 'Goddess of Fortune' Found Near Shores of Sea of Galilee:
From ScienceDaily 9/17/10- A fresco of Tyche, the Greek goddess of fortune, was exposed during the 11th season of excavation at the Sussita site, on the east shore of the Sea of Galilee, which was conducted by researchers of the University of Haifa. Another female figure was found during this season, of a maenad, one of the companions of the wine god Dionysus."

The city of Sussita(Hippos) existed during the Hellenist, Roman, and Byzantine periods, until it was destroyed by a violent earthquake in the year 749 C.E. Astrologically, the total lunar eclipse of Oct. 11, 748 in Aries foreshadowed this natural disaster. The eclipsed Moon conjoined the comet Chiron- whom was accidentally wounded in myth, and Luna's own South Node(losses), at the eclipse chart IC(4th house cusp) of land and foundations. Moreover, the eclipse Sun was activating a powerful Jupiter-Pluto-North Node conjunction on the Midheaven.
Eclipse Moon-Sun = Chiron = Nodes = Jupiter/Pluto = local meridian (Levant).
The Seventh Earthquake (Hebrew רעש שביעית (Ra'ash Shvi'it), literally "noise of the seventh") also known as the Golan earthquake of 749, was a devastating earthquake that struck the Levant on January 18, 749. The cities of Tiberias, Beit She'an, Hippos and Pella were largely destroyed while many other cities across the Levant region were heavily damaged. In addition, the quake reportedly claimed tens of thousands of victims. ~Wikipedia

Musharraf and Mubarak
From BBC News:
"A Pakistani anti-terrorism court has issued an arrest warrant for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf over the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto in 2007. Prosecutors say he was aware of Taliban plans to target her but did not act to prevent her murder in Rawalpindi. They accuse him of failing to provide adequate security for the former PM.
Mr Musharraf- who lives in self-imposed exile in London- denies the allegations.
His spokesman said Mr Musharraf had no intention of returning to Pakistan for the hearing.
"There is no basis for the case. This is a politically motivated court ruling and the former president has no intention of complying."
Ms Bhutto was killed while in a gun and suicide attack while traveling in an election motorcade in the city of Rawalpindi in December 2007. She was twice prime minister of Pakistan, from 1988 to 1990, and from 1993 to 1996."
The Feb. 18 Leo Full Moon conjoins the royal star Regulus- the heart of the lion. "A triple star, flushed white and ultramarine, situated on the body of the Lion. From Regulus, a Little King, and often called Cor Leonis, the Lion's Heart, and symbolically the Crushing Foot. The epic transiting Uranus/Pluto(midpoint) at 18 Aquarius is aligning with Musharraf's natal Sun at 18 degrees of Leo. According to Reinhold Ebertin, the Uranus/Pluto principle signifies: The process of transformation. The collapse of the old order of things, the construction of the new. Revolution.
And for the planetary picture Sun = Uranus/Pluto he says: The urge for independence and freedom, untiring creative work, the tendency to make the highest demands on one's physical energy, strong emotional tensions. Over excitement of the nerves, a breakdown, a catastrophe.
Egypt's autocratic ruler of 30 years, Hosni Mubarak, finally resigned yesterday after weeks of intense protests, and huge numbers of Egyptians celebrated through the night in Cairo and elsewhere. The nation's military which is now in control of the country, has pledged to respect all its treaties, including the 1979 peace accord with Israel, but world leaders have called for a swift transition to civilian rule.
The transits of Pluto to the 1965 Uranus-Pluto conjunction chart Ascendant(Cairo) and Moon(Ascendant lord), reflect these unprecedented changes, as previously noted. But this week's quickly moving Sun-Mars conjunction over the transiting Uranus/Pluto(at 18 Aquarius), was a trigger or timing factor of shorter duration.
Interestingly- the resignation Moon(the people) was culminating(at it's highest point) with the malefic star Algol- 'losing one's head', while the announcement Ascendant conjoined the royal star Regulus, as will the Feb. 18 Leo Full Moon. Regulus is a positive influence for those whom use their power or influence positively, and a negative indication for those that abuse their power.

Therapeutic Astrology
Potentials and Contraindications of Therapeutic Astrology
by Greg Bogart, Ph.D
"Before we can begin to introduce astrological perspectives into therapeutic work, it is important to understand the somewhat uneasy relationship that exists between the fields of psychology and astrology. While there is a growing interest in therapeutic applications of astrology, we cannot lose sight of the fact that astrology is still considered by most psychologists (and scientists in general) to be one of the last holdouts in modern society of primitive superstition and irrationalism. I can well understand the skepticism some psychologists feel toward astrology. For was it not the mission of modern science to liberate humanity from fatalistic, deterministic beliefs, rooted in religious traditions, such as those allegedly found in astrology? Science and humanism have tried to free human beings from slavery to the gods and to awaken our capacity to shape the world and ourselves through choice, effort, and free will. The repudiation of astrology was part and parcel of the rejection of the supernatural and seemed to be essential to the growth of science, reason, and a more enlightened society.
Psychologists often view astrology with great suspicion, for it may seem to be antithetical to their work of helping clients to strengthen their sense of personal efficacy and agency and to make their own destinies through concrete material, social, and intellectual achievements. A common view is that astrology promotes not independence and freedom but rather a passive attitude in which the locus of control of events is seen as existing outside the person in the planets. To a large extent this negative misperception of astrology is due to the fact that most of what the public knows as astrology is the Sun sign predictions found at supermarket checkout counters, next to the National Enquirer. It is also due to the tendency for astrologers to try to predict specific events instead of focusing on psychological principles and tendencies indicated by the chart. Another major problem is that many astrologers "read" a chart one-sidedly, emphasizing information rather than process."

Wurdi Youang aka Mt. Rothwell Site
"Is this just a pile of rocks placed in a semicircle, or proof that Aborigines were the world's first astronomers?
After years of meticulous examination, a group of Australia's most distinguished astro-physicists is starting to believe it's the latter- a discovery that could turn history upside down and render England's famous Stonehenge an also-ran.
Dubbed Wurdi Youang, the strange stone arrangement was found on property near Mt Rothwell, 80km west of Melbourne- its two points set in perfect alignment with the setting sun on a midsummer's day.
CSIRO experts believe the ancient Aboriginal sundial could be upwards of 10,000 years old, an estimate that would have it pre-date the famous neolithic Stonehenge and the only remaining ancient wonder of the world, the Egyptian Pyramids.
It's location is a closely guarded secret.
CSIRO astro-physicist Professor Ray Norris said the precise alignment of the stones proved it was constructed to map the sun.
"This can't be done by guesswork, it required very careful measurements. If it goes back, let's say, 10,000 years, that predates the Egyptians, the Pyramids, Stonehenge, all that stuff," Professor Norris said.

Astrology is a Science
The Times of India - Feb. 3, 2011:
"Astrology has been debunked by most world scientists including India's renowned physicist Prof. Yash Pal. However, it is "science" in India.
The Bombay High Court reaffirmed this on Thursday when it dismissed a PIL that had challenged astrology as science.
The PIL was filed by an NGO, Janhit Manch that had sought action against 'fake' astrologers, tantriks, practitioners of Vastu shastra etc.
"So far as prayer related to astrology is concerned, the Supreme Court has already considered the issue and ruled that astrology is science. The court had in 2004 also directed the universities to consider if astrology science can be added to the syllabus. The decision of the apex court is binding on this court," observed the judges.
The judges also took on record an affidavit submitted by the Union government. The Centre had in its affidavit stated that astrology is 4000 years old 'trusted science' and the same does not fall under the preview of The Drugs and Megical Remedies Act (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
"The said Act does not cover astrology and related sciences. Astrology is a trusted science and is being practiced for over 4000 years," said an affidavit filed by Dr R Ramakrishna, deputy drug controller (India), west zone.
"The said Act is aimed at prohibiting misleading advertisements relating to drugs and magic remedies. The Act does not cover and / or relate to astrology and / or allied sciences like Palmistry, Vaastu Shastra etc. In view thereof, a purported ban on practices promoting astrology and related sciences sought by the petitioner, which is a time tested science more than 4000 years old is totally misconceived and unjustifiable," says the affidavit.
The (PIL) filed by Janhit Manch and its convener Bhagwanji Raiyani, along with his associate Dattaram Kumkar, had questioned the validity of predictions by many well-known astrologers.
The PIL, which ran into more than 100 pages pointed to several cases, including that of Indira Gandhi and Charan Singh becoming prime ministers, despite opposite predictions.
Representing the Union government, advocate Advait Sethna told the court that even the SC had accepted that astrology was a science and many universities had included it as a subject.
Advocate for Maharashtra government, Bharat Mehta too supported the stand taken by the Union government. Mehta submitted an affidavit filed by the food and drugs administration (FDA) department which said that necessary action is being taken against the guilty under the Drugs and Megical Remedies Act.
The PIL had urged the authorities to ban articles, advertisements, episodes and practices promoting astrology and its related subjects like vastu, reiki, feng shui, tarot, palmistry, zodiac signs and rashifal."

Scientist's Find Tiny 24 Hour Clock
"Scientists have identified the mechanism that controls the internal 24-hour clock of all forms of life -- from us to algae.
Researchers from Britain's Cambridge and Edinburgh universities, whose work was published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, said their findings provide important insight into health-related problems linked to people such as nurses, pilots and other shift workers, whose body clocks are disrupted.
The studies also suggest that the 24-hour circadian clock found in human cells is the same as that found in algae, and dates back millions of years to early life on earth, they said.
In the first study, Cambridge scientists found for the first time that red blood cells have a 24-hour rhythm.
This is significant, they explained, because circadian rhythms have always been assumed to be linked to DNA and gene activity -- but, unlike most other cells in the body, red blood cells do not have DNA.
"The implications of this for health are manifold. We already know that disrupted clocks...are associated with metabolic disorders such as diabetes, mental health problems and even cancer," said Akhilesh Reddy, who led the study. "By furthering our knowledge of how the 24-hour clock in cells works, we hope that the links...will be made clearer."
