Bomb Scare in Times Square

"A crude car bomb of propane, gasoline and fireworks was discovered in a smoking Nissan Pathfinder in the heart of Times Square on Saturday evening, prompting the evacuation of thousands of tourists and theatergoers on a warm and busy night. Although the device had apparently started to detonate, there was no explosion, and early on Sunday the authorities were still seeking a suspect and motive.

“We are very lucky,” Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said at a 2:15 a.m. press conference. “We avoided what could have been a very deadly event."

The fortuitous discovery of a smoking SUV in Times Square occurred with Venus(Ascendant ruler) tightly conjunct the Part of Fortune, and the Sagittarius Moon exactly square(3' orb) it's dispositor...Jupiter. Benefic Jupiter was partile square New York City's Part of Fortune as well. While event Venus(NYC's Ascendant ruler) trined the radix Jupiter and Ascendant, as a potentially deadly attack was averted.

There's some satisfaction here in noting that the traditionally benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter, can indicate a favorable outcome to mundane affairs- as we tend to focus on more dramatic and tragic events, and the involvement of the outer planets in such cases.
