The confrontation Wednesday came as the "Red Shirts" and security forces remained locked in a potentially explosive standoff in downtown Bangkok. The determined demonstrators are demanding Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva dissolve Parliament and call new elections immediately.
A failed April 10 attempt by security forces to drive protesters from their encampment in the capital erupted into the worst political violence Thailand has seen in 18 years, with 25 people dead and more than 800 wounded.
The protesters are mainly poor rural supporters of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and pro-democracy activists who opposed the military coup that ousted him in 2006.
The mundane astrology suggests that Thailand will continue to be one of the world's hot-spots for some time to come. The 2010 Aries ingress(Vernal Equinox) chart shows the key aspect of our times- the epic t-square between Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto, sharply focused in Bangkok. A prominent Mars mirrored violence here around the April 14 Aries New Moon- as it did in charts related to the deadly earthquake in China's Ginghai province(Apr.14). And as the Cancer ingress(Summer Solstice) for Bangkok also features the big t-square on the angles, it looks like the political tension in Thailand will continue, and reach some kind of climax near the June 26 lunar eclipse. This eclipse which conjoins Pluto and activates the major t-square, straddles the horizon at Bangkok, evoking crisis, upheaval, and explosive events in Thailand, and across the world(possibly in Germany). It may be worthwhile to note in closing, that the April 1986 lunar eclipse that conjoined Pluto(in Scorpio) was 3 days before the disastrous Chernobyl nuclear meltdown.

It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it. ~Aung San Suu Kyi
