Although there was a lunar eclipse on Mar. 2, 1961(12 Virgo), the 2/15/61 solar eclipse at 26 Aquarius appears most significant, as this is exactly where the major conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune is occurring now. And it is this rare celestial alignment that pertains to the grand optimism and idealism that many are feeling- which may, or may not, be realistic- but can heal the wounds(Chiron) of the past. Moreover, the collective tends to project it's dreams and fantasies onto public figures whom reflect these projections best. And Barack Obama, in particular, clearly fits the bill, as he's able to elicit a hopefulness about the future that the masses wish to embrace at this time. Only time will tell if our faith and trust was well placed.

Very cool blog, David. You got me to wondering what my pre-natal eclipse chart looked like. I ran this chart for my place of birth and found transiting Saturn to be conjunct the midheaven! What the heck? Why in the world would I choose such a place to be born?
Maybe so you would be aligned with goals that best fit your karmic predisposition. ;-p
Interesting....
It does give more evidence that there is a higher purpose and plan being played out. This allows us to see hope in our current world situation, not to mention our own personal dramas playing out.
I am sure you are aware that on the night of the election Saturn and Uranus formed an exact opposition, another sign of divine forces at play.
It will be interesting to continue watching Obama's Chart and current aspect to see if there are any further connections.
