"What is the meaning of Life? The answer may depend more on what we choose to believe, than any absolute out-there truth or Unified Field Theory attempting to explain the cosmos. Indeed, the meaning of life, and the life of meaning, may be relative to perspective -- where you stand and what you see from there. If you care enough to define the terms of your life and are brave enough to act from that personal vision, your life will be transformed by the heat, light, and force imparted by the sources you are living for, the animating principles governing existence itself: the archetypes."

Cyclone Sidr Slams Bangladesh
Bloomberg- "Tropical Cyclone Sidr slammed into the Ganges Delta with winds of 250 kilometers (155 miles) per hour, causing devastation in Bangladesh before weakening over northern India.
The cyclone swept in from the Bay of Bengal, crossing the Khulna-Barisal coast yesterday at about 9:30 p.m. local time. Sidr destroyed homes and livestock, uprooted trees and damaged crops as it made landfall.
Bangladesh and northeastern India are regularly hit by cyclones that form in the bay, bringing flooding and devastation to local communities. Bangladesh stepped up its storm preparations after a cyclone that hit the South Asian nation in 1970 left 500,000 people dead."
Cyclone Sidr: A hurricane by any other name
"A massive tropical cyclone smashed into Bangladesh on Thursday morning. Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated. Some of the deadliest storms in history have pummeled this low-lying region at the north end of the Indian ocean. In 1970 Cyclone Bhola's storm surge killed 500,000 people, almost exactly 37 years ago. The Bangladesh cyclone of 1991 resulted in another 138,000 deaths.
So now comes Cyclone Sidr. The usual climate change narrative is being invoked. As Dan Shapley, writing at The Daily Green, observes, you don't have to prove a direct connection between global warming and extreme storms to be nervous. The border region between India and Bangladesh, drained by both the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers, is one of the most flood-prone areas in the world. Even a minor increase in sea level multiplies the damage caused by storm surges. Bangladesh's vulnerability offers ample opportunity for worst case scenarios."

Astrology of Cyclone Sidr
The 9/11/07 solar eclipse set the stage for extreme events and upheaval in Bangladesh, with Pluto on the eclipse chart Midheaven, and tightly square the Ascendant at Dhaka(capital city).
>Eclipse Midheaven = 29 Sag = Pluto at 26 Sag = eclipse Ascendant at 28 Pisces.
The 2007 Libra ingress(Fall Equinox) chart has Neptune- ruler of the seas, oceans, and flooding, on the Ascendant at Dahka. And the Nov. 9 New Moon at 17 Scorpio was square Neptune. This lunation is clearly related to both the S.F. Bay oil spill; the Nov. 11 Russian tanker mishap near Kerch, Ukraine; and cyclone Sidr.
>Libra ingress Ascendant = 21 Aquarius = Neptune at 19 Aquarius.
>Ingress Midheaven at 2 Sag squares Saturn at 2 Virgo 33(partile).
It appears that we have a sensitive, zodiacal degree area for major events in Bangladesh- around 19 degrees of the fixed signs(Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius). We'll have to watch planets- esp. the outers, transiting this area in the future.
Cyclone Sidr 11/15/07:

11/9/07 New Moon = 17 Scorpio.
Cyclone Gorky 4/29/91:

The De-Planetization of Pluto
By Mitchell Lewis
"The demotion or de-planetization of Pluto by the astronomical community could have profound economic and political repercussions. Pluto was discovered in 1930, just as the world was entering the great depression. It is the ruling planet of all things held jointly and shared. Within two years, F.D.R. was elected and began a massive societal push to the left aimed at sharing the wealth of this nation with all its people. He began many programs including social security and unemployment benefits to protect the population in their times of distress." More->

7.7 Earthquake in Chile
SANTIAGO, Nov 14 (Reuters) - A powerful magnitude 7.7 quake hit mineral-rich northern Chile on Wednesday, injuring some people, damaging buildings and halting operations at some of the world's biggest copper mines.
The quake made buildings sway hundreds of miles away in neighboring countries and the Chilean capital Santiago. Officials said one of the hardest hit areas was Tocopilla, 75 miles (120 km) north of coastal mining city Antofagasta.
"One of the most affected zones could be Tocopilla where some houses in the western part of town, which are made of lighter materials, have been affected and we have some injured people," Deputy Interior Minister Felipe Harboe said on television.
Television images showed cars crushed under the concrete awning of a hotel in Antofagasta, where power and phone services were knocked out by the quake. Frightened residents stood in the streets.
The United States Geological Service, or USGS, said the quake, 36.7 miles (60 km) deep, was centered 66 miles (106 km) west of the town of Calama and struck at 12:40 p.m. local time (1040 EST/1540 GMT).
The quake was initially reported at 7.8 magnitude by the U.S. agency and later verified at 7.7."
Astrology of the event
The Libra ingress(Fall Equinox) chart for Tocopilla(70w12/22s05)- the city nearest the quake epicenter, shows radical Uranus setting there. And the Scorpio New Moon of Nov. 9, was sharply angular(powerful) in Tocopilla, with Neptune(chaos; structural weaknesses) in exact(partile) square with the local Ascendant(the state of the state/people).
The solar eclipse of 9/11/07 fell in the 12th house at Tocopilla, with Saturn in a wide conjunction to the Moon's South Node. This Saturn-Node conjunction peaked at the time of the California fires, and several other mass events(Nodes) of a grim nature(Saturn). Today's earthquake occurred with Saturn- ruler of the eclipse 4th house of foundations(in Tocopilla), conjunct the eclipse South Node exactly(partile). And thus the potential difficulties seeded at the 9/11/07 solar eclipse, came to fruition with the transit of Saturn to the Nodes- which are essentially eclipse points.

Pakistan in Upheaval
From Nancy's Blog,
"As the world watches the convulsion seizing Pakistan at the moment, concern over the rapidly escalating events is pervasive. Will Pervez Musharraf maintain his newly intensified grasp on power, dissolving all remnants of democracy in this South Asian nation or will he be forced to back down by rising resistance from both within and outside the country? With a sizable and growing radical fundamentalist population in some of the northwestern provinces of Pakistan, increasing terrorism already an issue throughout the country, and a large stockpile of nuclear weapons controlled by the army, all of the elements are there for a dangerous conflagration if some semblance of stability is not restored." Oil Spill in SF Bay
Ship Hits the Bay Bridge
Nov 7, 2007
8:30 am
S.F., CA
The Saturn-Ascendant square at moment of impact, aligned with San Francisco's natal Moon(the people/public).
"Officials from a host of local, state and federal agencies are meeting today to discuss how to clean up a 58,000 gallons of fuel that spilled into San Francisco Bay after a container ship bumped into the Bay Bridge.
Some 8,000 gallons of the heavy-duty bunker fuel oil have been contained since Wednesday's accident, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Russ Tippets said this morning. Several San Francisco beaches have been closed, and officials said there was oil in the bay just off the Marin County shoreline.
Representative from 13 agencies are meeting at Fort Mason this morning to discuss the next steps, Tippets said. The Coast Guard launched at first light today to check for sheen in the water and to track the flow of oil, he said.
Oil began leaking into the water after the 65,131-ton Cosco Busan, an 810-foot-long container ship, crashed into the base of a tower of the Bay Bridge's western span in heavy fog at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
It was the first time in memory that an oceangoing ship had run into the bridge, which did not suffer major damage. Authorities have shut down Baker Beach, Crissy Field, China Beach, Kirby Cove and Fort Point in San Francisco due to the bay's contamination."
The chart for this disastrous event has the star Denebola on the Midheaven. Denebola in Leo, in "the tail of the lion", of the nature of Saturn and Venus, warns of misfortune and disasters in mundane charts."
The transits to the City's chart* are telling...
Uranus(sudden and disruptive) is opposite S.F.'s 4th house(the land, and local conditions) Jupiter(big events). Malefic Saturn is transiting S.F.'s natal 4th house, and opposes Neptune(oil), while squaring the City's Moon(the public). And Mars hitting natal Saturn, reflects the accident and it's nature- a collision leading to structural damage. *S.F. City charter- April 15, 1850, 8:28 am, LMT.
The Nov. 9 lunation is casting a shadow here before it occurs, as this New Moon squares Neptune(oil), and is sharply focused in San Francisco. The New Moon chart shows Neptune has a direct influence at this time and place(Ascendant/Midheaven = 17 Aquarius = Neptune 19 Aquarius). Neptune symbolizes the thick fog; the miscalculation leading to the crash; the seas/oceans; and the oil itself. Finally, the New Moon Ascendant conjoins the star Deneb Kaitos in Cetus, located in "the tail of the whale", and of the nature of Saturn.
Astrology does not necessarily work in a cause-and-effect manner- which is why a New Moon, for instance, can have an influence before it actually occurs. Our conceptions of time are inadequate to explain how astrology works.

Scorpio New Moon
The exact New Moon in Scorpio occurs on Nov. 9, at 3:04 pm, PST.
The intense Scorpio New Moon is sensitized by the square from Neptune, which adds both a transcendent quality, and/or a feeling of chaotic, uncertainty. The ancient ruler of Scorpio is Mars- which is culminating over Afghanistan) and Pakistan. A major attack just occured in the relatively calm, northern region of Afghanistan, while Pakistan undergoes one of it's most violent, and tumultuous periods.
At Washington DC, we find the Hyades star cluster on the Ascendant, with malefic Saturn in square. Weather wise- the Hyades have long been associated with wet, rainy conditions.
Anne Wright on the Hyades; "Rising: Rising or culminating with luminaries, makes their natives military captains, commanders, colonels of horse and emperors. (The Fixed Stars and Constellations in Astrology, Vivian E. Robson 1923).
The Hyades are a stormy star group and was regarded as a separate constellation. Always stirring up furious quarrels; enemies of quiet and peace, inflames the minds of individuals who are restless and riotous, always stirring up popular dissent and revolution, madly desiring civil and domestic wars". Those born at this time take no pleasure in tranquillity and set no store by a life of inaction; rather they yearn for crowds and mobs and civil disorders. Sedition and uproar delight them; they long for the Gracchi to harangue from the platform, for a secession to the Sacred Mount, leaving but a handful of citizens the at Rome; they welcome fights which break the peace and provide sustenance for fears. Such are the qualities engendered by the Hyades at the rising of their stars. (Manilus, book 5, Astronomica, 1st century AD).
The Fixed Stars
The Scorpio New Moon's emotional intensity, is joined with the heaviness of Saturn at the U.S. capitol- as the red planet Mars, stirs up yet more anger and aggression in Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
From BBC News, Nov. 10:
"Six US soldiers and three Afghan troops have been killed in fighting in eastern Afghanistan, Nato officials have said. Militants ambushed a patrol of Afghan soldiers and US troops from Nato's International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) in Nuristan province.
The ambush is one of the costliest for US forces this year, already the deadliest for the US since it helped overthrow the Taleban in 2001. Eight US troops and 11 Afghans were also wounded, Isaf officials said.
The Taliban said they carried out the attack, which took place on Friday(the day of the Scorpio New Moon)."

Burma
Adrian's Articles
"Burma is rather a strange country. The country has strange astrologers too. They had a hand in the founding chart of Burma, choosing a birth time of 4.20 a.m. at which time independence celebrations took place in the bright light of a half-moon. Perhaps these astrologers liked the fact that Jupiter was rising and in good aspect to both the Moon and Venus. They were certainly blissfully unaware of one of the outer planets – Neptune – that constellates strongly with the Sun/Mercury conjunction of the chart. (Traditional Vedic astrology does not use Uranus, Neptune and Pluto). Thus it would seem that they did not foresee the state of virtual imprisonment that the government would inflict on a peace-loving population." More->
