Bloomberg- "Tropical Cyclone Sidr slammed into the Ganges Delta with winds of 250 kilometers (155 miles) per hour, causing devastation in Bangladesh before weakening over northern India.
The cyclone swept in from the Bay of Bengal, crossing the Khulna-Barisal coast yesterday at about 9:30 p.m. local time. Sidr destroyed homes and livestock, uprooted trees and damaged crops as it made landfall.
Bangladesh and northeastern India are regularly hit by cyclones that form in the bay, bringing flooding and devastation to local communities. Bangladesh stepped up its storm preparations after a cyclone that hit the South Asian nation in 1970 left 500,000 people dead."
Cyclone Sidr: A hurricane by any other name
"A massive tropical cyclone smashed into Bangladesh on Thursday morning. Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated. Some of the deadliest storms in history have pummeled this low-lying region at the north end of the Indian ocean. In 1970 Cyclone Bhola's storm surge killed 500,000 people, almost exactly 37 years ago. The Bangladesh cyclone of 1991 resulted in another 138,000 deaths.
So now comes Cyclone Sidr. The usual climate change narrative is being invoked. As Dan Shapley, writing at The Daily Green, observes, you don't have to prove a direct connection between global warming and extreme storms to be nervous. The border region between India and Bangladesh, drained by both the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers, is one of the most flood-prone areas in the world. Even a minor increase in sea level multiplies the damage caused by storm surges. Bangladesh's vulnerability offers ample opportunity for worst case scenarios."

Astrology of Cyclone Sidr
The 9/11/07 solar eclipse set the stage for extreme events and upheaval in Bangladesh, with Pluto on the eclipse chart Midheaven, and tightly square the Ascendant at Dhaka(capital city).
>Eclipse Midheaven = 29 Sag = Pluto at 26 Sag = eclipse Ascendant at 28 Pisces.
The 2007 Libra ingress(Fall Equinox) chart has Neptune- ruler of the seas, oceans, and flooding, on the Ascendant at Dahka. And the Nov. 9 New Moon at 17 Scorpio was square Neptune. This lunation is clearly related to both the S.F. Bay oil spill; the Nov. 11 Russian tanker mishap near Kerch, Ukraine; and cyclone Sidr.
>Libra ingress Ascendant = 21 Aquarius = Neptune at 19 Aquarius.
>Ingress Midheaven at 2 Sag squares Saturn at 2 Virgo 33(partile).
It appears that we have a sensitive, zodiacal degree area for major events in Bangladesh- around 19 degrees of the fixed signs(Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius). We'll have to watch planets- esp. the outers, transiting this area in the future.
